History of the Tallahassee Area Chapter #16 of the ACFE

The Tallahassee Area Chapter #16 of the ACFE (Tallahassee Chapter) was initiated by Mr. Deette Preacher, CPA, who had the idea of starting a chapter among fellow co-workers at the State of Florida Auditor General’s office. William Flowers and Tom Wade were among those enlisted in the initial planning.  On February 27, 1990, the local chapter was approved by the ACFE Board of Regents and assigned Chapter Number 16, with Chapter Numbers issued in the order of the applications received.

The Tallahassee Chapter supports the ACFE Mission and is dedicated to providing our members with the current tools and techniques to aid them in detecting, deterring, and preventing fraudulent activity. The Tallahassee Chapter’s focus is to serve the community by providing interaction and knowledge to its members and visitors. This is accomplished by offering continuing professional education (CPE) credits that focus on fraud awareness tools and techniques during our six annual chapter meetings.  The Tallahassee Chapter offers an annual fraud conference, which has been recently expanded to a two-day joint fraud training conference with the Tallahassee Chapter of the Institute of Internal Auditors (IIA).
